Pre-Operative Information

Appointment Confirmation: A nurse will confirm your appointment time. Arrive at the Center at least 60 minutes before your scheduled procedure, unless instructed otherwise. You may complete some paperwork in advance to expedite check-in.

  • Registration: All patients must register on the day of the procedure. Bring any paperwork from your physician (lab results, x-ray films, EKG), your insurance card, photo ID, and any co-payment or deductible payments.
  • Pre-Procedure Tests: If lab tests are required, they must be done at your primary care physician’s office or an approved outside laboratory, as the Center does not perform these tests. Women of child-bearing age will have a pregnancy test on the day of the procedure.
  • Food and Drink: Drink plenty of fluids the evening before. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight prior to your procedure unless instructed by your surgeon or anesthesiologist. This includes avoiding candy, mints, gum, and alcohol.
  • Medications: Bring a list of current medications. Consult your physician about which medications to take on the day of the procedure; generally, take normal medications with a sip of water, except for blood thinners and insulin.
  • Dress Code: Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Avoid nail polish, makeup, lotion, or jewelry. Leave valuables at home as the Center is not responsible for lost items.
  • Transportation: Arrange for a Responsible Adult Companion (RAC) to drive you to and from the Center. They will receive pick-up instructions in the recovery room. You cannot drive yourself due to anesthesia effects and should have someone stay with you for 12 hours post-procedure. If you cannot arrange for a RAC, your procedure may be canceled or rescheduled.
